Preparation for the rest of us

Preparation for the rest of us

Jerry Cans are popular in many different communities because of their versatility and utility. I purchased one last year and finally got around to writing a review on it. If you are in the market for one, consider the Wavian 20L Jerry Can. It’s a great product that you should consider adding to your inventory.

One of the most interesting products I have come across in the past few years is the Itzagascan emergency fuel container. I have several for my vehicles and gave a bunch away as Christmas gifts. If you own a motorized vehicle, you should consider purchasing a few of these just in case. Read my review of this product over at Survival Life to get my impressions of the product and why I find it compelling.

I’ve had a few spare fuel containers with broken spouts in my garage for a while. Not long ago, I replaced the broken ones with an EZ-Pour Spout so I could use the containers again. In fact, I liked them so much I wrote a review for them over at Survival Life. If you have any pre-2009 fuel containers that need a replacement spout, give this product due consideration.

Technology can be a two-edged sword. On the one hand, it gives regular people access to information and provides countless communications channels to convey it. On the other hand, Big Tech installs various tracking tools to gather data on what users are looking for. It’s a bit Orwellian and provides tech criminals with a big target. After all; if Google, Apple, Microsoft, and other tech giants have exabytes of data on their users, wouldn’t hackers want to steal it?

Which brings us to Windows 10.

Many of us current have Windows 10 installed on our devices, as of July 2017 it has been installed on over a third of personal computers in the world. By default, the keylogger that Microsoft included in the operating system is enabled. This means that all those PCs are sending keystrokes and voice information to Microsoft for their analysis. In other words, Big Brother Bill is watching you! But fear not, you can turn off the data spigot to Redmond and regain a little bit more of your privacy. Take a look at this article when you have a chance, it will show you how to turn off the keylogger. It’s a small step but it will help protect your privacy and reduce your exposure to data breaches.

I wrote a review on the Anker Astro Mini over at Survival Life, which means you should go over there and read it. Everybody should have a battery of some sort to charge their portable electronic devices, especially since most of us are dependent on our smart phones. Nowadays, the prices for good, high-capacity battery chargers is low enough so that everybody can purchase at least one of them. So hop on over to Survival Life, read my review, increase your wisdom, and become more prepared.

Over the last few years, I have become increasingly frustrated with my legacy security system. I’ve been looking for an alternative and found one in the form of Simplisafe. You’ve probably heard the ads for it on the radio over the last year or so, it’s been getting a lot of attention. So I decided to contribute to the clattering by writing my own review for it on the Survival Life site. It’s really good, inexpensive, and easy to install so consider Simplisafe for your home.

Last month, I reviewed several products and wrote reviews for them to be published in Survival Life. These will be released in the coming weeks and I will link them here as well. However, the theme of these reviews is “playing with gasoline” since all of these products are related to fuel storage. To be clear, I was *testing* these products for their ability to store and dispense fuel…not to create fire and mayhem. The whole series will be worth reading because of some unexpected experiences I had along the way. There was even one product I could not review due to a design limitation. Anyway, stay tuned for more information because there will be some actionable steps you can take after you read these posts.

We don’t often think about it but how do you manage all the keys in your life? I found a really handy product called the Keysmart that does a good job of managing the keys in my EDC. Check out my review over at Survival Life to see if you should add it to your inventory.

Remember a while back, I wrote about why it’s smart to carry cash? Even though I don’t like to carry a lot of cash, I keep some in my pocket at all times just in case. Well, just in case became the case for me one afternoon.
