Hi

I rang doctors at beginning of august after my period was 12 days late which isnt normal for me i knew i wasnt pregnant as my husband had a vasectomy, i was feeling blted and had a pain that kept coming and going in my right side stomach and back and occasionally shoots down my leg.

I am 36, the doctor sent me for blood s and my ca125 level came back at 42, so she sent me for a ultrasound scan  and transvaginal scan which i have had and everything was ok.

So the doctor sent me again on friday for a blood she rang today it has gone up to 64. So now i am waiting for an mri scan.

I am so worried and ed just wondered if this had happened to anyone else and what the outcome was i have 3 children and i am such a mess at the moment

Thanks

Hi Lozza22,

My situation is slightly different in that my CA125 was slightly raised at 41 when taken – but this was after I had had ultrasounds that show a large mass. Are you pre-menopausal? I have done lots of research into this – and also spoken to my GP. She said that CA125 levels are unreliable in women who have not been through the menopause and that your levels can fluctuate throughout the month/your cycle. Have they said they are going to do any further investigations?
I hope you’re ok – I know how much worry these things cause.

Sharon

Thank you for replying

I hope your ok sharon.

i initially  went as i thought i was going through early menopause or thyroid problems as i was literally dripping with sweat late period  and hair falling out as well as blting and mild pains in stomach and back.

She did bloods and the only thing  that come back was the raised ca125 level.

The doctor has sent off a referral for an urgent mri scan. I asked about whether it could be raised due to been on my period and she said no but from what i have read on google it says it does affect the ca125 levels.

 Xx

I’m so sorry – you did put in the original post that you were going for an MRI. Hate it when people don’t read things properly! Hopefully the MRI will be able to shed some light into what is going on and that you won’t have to wait too long for it to be done. Mine was done as urgent and I waited 12 days (I am in Bristol). I am waiting for a date now for a CT scan as my MRI was inconclusive. I am also waiting for a date for my surgery. I am such a patient person but all this waiting has been so hard! I also have three children (I am 45 and they are technically adults but still live at ). If you’re anything like me, it’s the unknown that is so hard… I am an overthinker and non sleeper – I have done sooooo many of thinking about this!
Fingers crossed that your MRI is very soon x

Hi to you both, I had raised levels almost a year ago now I went to Dr.  I had almost continuous bleeding, spotting for about 6 years, got pretty fat and blted like I was pregnant, but I knew I was not, had night sweats and very irritable. Thought it was peri menopause starting and very ed at work. So last august/sept went to dr. She Rang saying I had raised levels and that I would be referred to specialist and hear in two wks. Had no idea what it all meant so started googling everything! First had examination by gyny specialist and an ultrasound as they thought I may be pregnant. This should a mass, I think on my ovaries. Was told I would need hysterectomy. Then had ct scan. Next was a hysteroscopy  which I had the pre op checks for, but then it was cancelled. Waited couple weeks I think whilst consultants had meeting.think they all meet certain day of week, so that’s why sometimes it’s a longer wait whilst they all decide best treatment. Then I got appt to go for another pre op at another hospital.I had a phone call saying I would be dealt with at a hospital more suitable as my mass was a rather large one and looked abnormal. I had a meeting with the consultant who was very calming (I have a fear of hospital and all things medical and blood!) Did a quick examination and smear . As I lay down he said wow that’s quite a , as I really looked 9 months pregnant! I then got letter for another pre op where I was told what was happening and everything explained very clearly and yes it was with a Macmillan sister but that was more precautionary as they were not sure what they were dealing with and wanted me in best place. On October 15th I had my op, so my whole time from drs blood to op was around 2 months, quite quick but it did feel a long time inbetween waiting for results and appts. I had total hysterectomy and removal of what was a 45cm growth!. It was pre cancerous, no further treatment required. Spent just 5 days in hospital and then and all has been fine nearly a year on now. Only went back to drs once as slight infection in stes which is quite common. That was it all over and done with. I feel great. I hope this helps a little. I know we all different, but I had convinced myself of all sorts as lots of symptoms can be lots different things but really best to try relax and wait to hear rather than fill your mind with all sorts. I know it’s easy for me to say now I am all sorted, but it really helps to deal with each and not think too far ahead when you don’t know the next outcome. Hope all goes well to both of you.

Hi All, not sure if I am posint in the right place………..

I am 51 years old.  I just had blood results back yesterday too with CA125 level raised.  I have managed to get an ultrasound booked for tomorrow on the mainland, I am on the Isle of Wight and there was a long wait here.  I was supposed to be going on holiday on Tuesday next week but just dont feel I can now with this hanging over my head.

I too am worried sick, I have been having issues since October last year, I had a blood then which was all Ok and a scan which resulted in being diagnosed with a spigelian hernia.  I was operated on in December and have been recovering since.  It’s been hard to know if my stomach issues were related to the hernia op or something else.  I have had blting and stomach pain.  No spotting or blood but then I have a coil fitted, which should be removed soon.  I am also going through the menopause.  I have follwed Diet Doctor diet as recommended by GP and this has stopped by blting etc but I still have some pain in my side and back.  Internet is a horrible place sometimes, you always go right to the top or the Pyramid, it doesn’t help when people say ‘don’t worry, you will be fine’ when they are not in your shoes they don’t understand. I am glad that I found this post, just typing this out makes me feel a bit better. M x

Hi, after your ultra sound you will hopefully find out more and then know what the next s are. I know I said try not to and worry and take each as it comes, but having been through it and believe me I was scared but I then had a calmness, sounds stupid but like an injured wild animal that knows when someone is trying to help it and it relaxes and let’s them get on with the job, well, that was me! I still have waking nightmares about the whole event and what may have been if I didn’t get sorted. Now I try and help on forums where I can, which helps me too. The less and more relaxed you can be, I am certain helps your mental state and physical state. So have your ultrasound, wait for results and take it from there, try not to Google, as you say everything seems worse, but it’s not always. You don’t need all the added thinking what it could be when you may be completely wrong. Another thing I did was think about all the nice things to do once you are sorted and feel better. I know that’s hard at moment with covid. Treat yourself to something nice after each for being strong and positive, or even better get someone else to treat you! Hope all goes well. Best of luck.
