I found a lump last weekend, between 20p and 50p size and obv concerned. Phoned gp last Monday and had to wait until today to speak to gp expecting to go and have it seen but now have to wait until next Tuesday to go in (and aware it will be another wait after that if I need investigations).  That seems a torturous wait.. But maybe normal at the moment? They have asked anything about size, location, symptoms..

Any advice welcome (in Scotland if that makes any difference)

Thanks

Hi

I totally understand your worries about waiting, I’m in England and when I found my lump in my breast I called the GP and was asked to go in the same day.  Once I saw the GP she referred me under the 2WW (2 week wait) which apparently is the government’s target to be seen at the hospital. I did wait just over 2 weeks but was relieved when I went and saw a consultant and had mammogram etc, don’t want to go in more detail as don’t want to cause any further distress.

If u feel that you are waiting longer than u should to see your GP is there any way of asking for an emergency appt as understandably this is a very worrying time for you.

Really hope you get to see your GP quick.

Hi, I feel your wait is far too long! Lumps ( including breast lumps) should be seen urgently, usually th3 same day…..give your doctors a ring….be firm…..ask why your breast lump is taking so long to be seen…really hope you get seen sooner than next Tuesday….that’s ludicrous! Xx

Hi lovely,

I’m in the same boat but North West England, GP hasn’t got any appointments until 3 weeks and that’s just to be seen by them before any referrals etc which will probably result in another 2 week wait. So I’m waiting until the 20th for an appointment which isn’t great for the good old anxiety.

I hope that you managed to schedule your appointment earlier!

I’ve been told by friends to call up and ask if they have any cancellations in the meantime to try and get an emergency appointment, not sure if the procedure will be slightly different with your surgeries though.

Take care x
