Everyday when I go to the toilet and poo I bleed a lot and the blood turns the water completely red. I have been diagnosed with internal piles via a sigmoidoscopy but I was told that the piles were very small and shouldn’t cause me any more problems. However I’m bleeding everyday still and it’s been about 12 months altogether, I also have other symptoms such as, passing blood clots, mucus, headaches, tiredness, hair loss and sometimes I have to run to the toilet to make it in time. Do you think it’s cancer?

Hi there Kateeb,
Sorry to hear that you’re going through this. I’m afraid that we can’t tell you whether or not you have cancer. I can understand how worried you must be about your health, but try not to think the worst. I think you should definitely go back to the doctor or try a different doctor; even go private if you can afford to. It’s important to be an advocate for your health, especially when you feel there’s something not right. I’m not saying it’s cancer, but it should be checked out. If one doctor doesn’t take it seriously try another and push until you get the answers you need. Unfortunately doctor’s don’t always take patients seriously so it’s important to find one that does.
It’s easier said than done, but try not to worry as worrying doesn’t help any situation. All the best and I hope that your health improves and that you get the right diagnosis x

Hi, thank you for your reply! I will definitely get it checked out. Do piles normally bleed that much every day?

Hi I came across your post and wanted to try and offer some reassurance.
I too suffer with piles although mine are external. They do bleed and often it is bright red blood. Fresh blood they say. They don’t bleed everyday though and if you are experiencing this I would advise you to go back to the Dr and ask for further examinations/tests.
I am awaiting a colonoscopy to check my symptoms out and rule anything suspicious out but having spoken to a gastroenterologist, several Drs and nurses they have all said cancer at my age (34) is very unlikely so please know this is also the case for you. It does happen but it is rarer in younger people.
That being said it should definitely still be checked out though. There are a lot of things that can cause those symptoms so try not to worry (easier said than done I know) my hair is also falling out and getting me down so much but I think that is due to stress in my case or hormones after stopping the contraceptive pill end of March this year. I would ask for blood tests as hair loss can also be down to anemia. If you do have anemia (low iron) I would then push for a referral to have the rest of your symptoms checked out as that much bleeding could be causing it and you need to find out what they can do to help. I hope it’s only piles and they can sort them out quickly for you.

Hi Lil_c i have read most of you posts and i think i am going through same situation as you. I have external piles too, i am 35 and have had them for quite some time, but initially were not as sivere as they are now. they could come and go maybe 1 -3 times a year.
towards the end of 2019, i started having constipation followed by huge amounts of gas. in Nov 2019 i consulted with a gastroentorologist. I had blood test, and coloescopy done, which all cameout clear acording to the dr.
Ever since i would have pile bleeding almost evey after one month meaning one month gone, one month bleeding.
I have severe constipation.
I have intermitent lower left sharp abdominal pain. It comes and goes. some time smilar pain moves parts in my lower abdomen.
I have consulted with my gp about my worries and concerns, and since then, numerous blood tests have been done, but always come clear.
symptoms are piling up but drs keep saying my colonoscopy camout clear. and its either hemoroids or IBS
Now since Jan 2021 i started loosing weight. i am very scared and i want to do another colonscopy.
Did you do yours? what was the results?
