Due to symptoms I’ve had 3 fit tests over the last couple of years all showing blood but colonoscopy comes back  a good result (happy days) but after the last one I had to have a scan with contrast which today I was told was clear (again I’m pleased) my worry is my diabetes has gone to pot numbers wise and I have pain under left side of ribs and central stomach  I’m losing weight and dont want to eat and constantly tired and cant quench my thirst. Can things be missed ie pancreatic cancer or pancreatitis.

Many thanks in advance

Hi Geordie,

A very warm welcome to our forum. I am delighted to hear that all of your tests have come back clear, but sorry to hear that you still have some concerns. I am not a doctor, but I have type 2 Diabetes. Most of the symptoms you mention could be due to your Diabetes. Do you have a Diabetes nurse who you can talk to?

If not, please make an appointment to see you GP again, as it looks as if your Diabetes may not be fully under control. You might find it helpful to write down all of your symptoms, with if possible, a timeline of when they began. It will also be useful to write down any questions you have before you see your GP.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

Kind regards,

Jolamine xx

Hi Jolamine,

thank you for the reply, I’m actually under my local hospital and have a appointment with the gp nurse next wk. My worry is as you say the diabetes and the pain is in the region of the pancreas.  This worries me as I’ve had trouble control with numbers for a long time but with weight loss etc and the fact of b12 deficiency you start to put things together, wrong I know but we’re only human.

They say pancreatic cancer can be missed till the problems are two bad to sort out so it fingers crossed lol.

Thank you again for your reply kindest regards

Hi

If you had a CT scan with the contrast i’m sure if anything was wrong with your other organs, cancer or something else it would have shown up.

I was surprised during a results appointment from my CT that EVERYTHING is checked and reported on. Even a small liver cyst showed up on mine. The doctor said most of us will probably have them but we never know unless we have a scan and they are harmless. Even a small folicle showed up.

Hope this eases your worry a little.

Diabetes on the other hand I know nothing about.

Hope you feel better soon.

Hi,

I have being diagnosed at 26 with multiple liver tumours which are apparently benign your post as made me feel better that a doctor told you they are common as my liver specialist don’t tell me a great deal. X

Hi Geordie,

I am glad to hear that you have an appointment next week and hope that your practice nurse can identify your problem. Make sure that you mention all of your symptoms to the nurse and also ensure that you tell here of your fears.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on.

Kind regards,

Jolamine xx
