Hi,

I visited the doctors on Wednesday due to bleeding between periods, she examined me and said she could see something on my cervix, hopefully cervical ectropion but she needed a second opinion to check for cancer with a colposcopy and as I have a bladder prolapse she was struggling to see properly. She send an urgent 2 week wait appointment to the hospital. I had a letter on Thursday which said I should call in Friday had I not heard anything.

I called today, they said they wait for a consultant to grade the referrals before knowing when to book in. They then called back and said it had been done and could they see me on Monday. I explained I would be on a period at the time and what should I do, she booked a telephone consultation with a view to being seen later the week.
Now I’ve sat and thought about it, I am concerned at what they must have seen on my referral to decide then needed to see me so soon. I’m worried something must have been very bad. The doctor I saw on Wednesday knows how worried I have been and I am wondering if she tried to calm me when maybe there is something I need to be concerned about.

I’m so diligent with my smear tests and was clear at my last one 2.5 years ago so I was trying to stay up beat about what could possibly happen in that time but now I feel I need to be aware that there could be a problem here.

any advice would be really appreciated,

thank you,

Waiting for results is always tough, especially when our minds start to concentrate on worse case scenarios, but you’re not alone as many of our members have been in this position and hopefully some of them will be along soon to offer their support and advice.

In the meantime I just wanted you to know we’re thinking of you and hope that this information will help steady your nerves until you find out more.

Fingers crossed for good news Terrrified.

All the best,

Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator
