HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – History was made at Joan C. Edwards Stadium on Saturday.

In so many ways.

Marshall defeated No. 23 Appalachian State, 17-7, in a front of a prime-time nationally televised audience on CBS, the Thundering Herd football program’s first win against an FBS Top 25 team in 30 seasons of the stadium’s existence. It was Marshall’s first win against a ranked team in 17 years, and first win against a Top 25 team here in Huntington in 44 years. Read more

Huntington – As if Saturday’s rekindled rivalry – Marshall versus Appalachian State – needed a little more spice, America’s Most Watched Network got involved.

So at 3:30 p.m. this Saturday – two hours later than initially announced – two teams receiving votes in the Associated Press Top 25 college football poll will meet at Joan C. Edwards Stadium, and CBS will televise the non-conference showdown. Read more
