Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic systemic inflammatory disease whose hallmark feature is a persistent symmetric polyarthritis (synovitis). Osteoarthritis is the most common type of joint disease and can be thought of as a degenerative disorder with inflammatory components.
