This forum has asked me what I want to say WHERE TO START ?
Well Im scared and angry and I really dont know what I want to say I want to rant and rant and complain that I am lying here in the spare bedroom because my husband bless him is terrified to sleep with me in case he bumps me and causes any damage to my wound . So sad but he is right/ I am now into my 5th month since my WLE 6 infections later and now having compression bandaging to hopefully help healing/ Love to hear if anyone else is in same situation ( or any one at all really I would be so happy to talk to someone ) xx

HI daffers,
I’m so sorry to here you are suffering all these infections after your WLE. Was a skin graft involved? I know of a few that have had infections due to grafts and they did eventually heal, it just takes a long time I’m afraid.

Hi Angie
Thanks so much for replying
Yes I did have a graft and its on the back of my heel so very restrictive and I know its an awkward place
Strangely though I feel fortunate in having the type of melanoma I have been diagmosed with which I am being treated with targeted therapy, its relativly new. Just scared and quite lonely despite the support of my family
How about you ? have you been diagmosed since 2011 ? Let me know and thanks again for your response x

I was diagnosed Stage 3 in 2009 so I’m not eligible for adjuvant therapy unless it returns again. Glad you are on targeted therapy which is showing great results. It is a lonely place to be but there is support out there. If you accept my friend request I will send you a private message. xx

Hi Daffers,
I am so sorry to hear about the problems hat you’ve been having as a result of your WLE and skin graft.
I had 2 bouts of breast cancer 9 and 10 years ago respectively and, have been tested for a melanoma on my back WLEs on 11th March. Fortunately both were benign. One lesion was on my face, just under my eye.The other was on my inner leg, just above my ankle.
Fortunately the scar on my face has healed beautifully, but the one on my leg didn’t. It took antiibiotics and several weeks to persuade it. I have to return at the end of this month for a review.
I am so glad to hear that your results are clear.
We’re always here for you, whether for information, advice or a good ol’ moan.
Kind regards,
Jolamine xx

Hi Jolamine
Thanks so much for taking the time to respond.i am pleased for you that you dont have to go through any further trauma / treatment. It sounds like you have your fair share!
I have not as yet been given the all clear as I need to be on the targeted therapy for at least one year with intermittent scans and all of the other stuff, I am however feeling positive I just wish I could get these damn dressings off my leg lol
Anyway thanks again and good luck

Hi Daffers,
I know what you mean about getting the dressings off, but surely it can’t take much longer? The heel is a difficult area to get healed up, as you put so much pressure on it when you are walking.
Kind regards,
Jolamine xx
