Life after the BIG C

Hi … Just found my 2017 post and it made me cry remembering my journey.  I am now 3 years Cancer Free and have learnt so much about me, myself and I ! Here are a few things that has made me the woman I am today…

1. You have one life… live it the best way you can

2. Fall in love with yourself… what I mean is treat yourself as a Prize ! If you buy a car, you maintain it, tax it, put petrol in it, you insure it! Treat yourself in the same way! Take CARE of you FIRST, this is the only way you can look after your kids and loved ones. YOU are the most important person in YOUR life.

3. Dont save things, wear/ use them today, go on that holiday, buy that dress! Time waits for nobody!

5. Meditate … dont sit and think about Cancer.. clear your mind and relax your body. Its hard right ‍♀️Ok here is some help Try these 3-minute micro-meditations from Aura!  https://aura.app.link/ao3rFAYFHX. This helps me every night to quite the noise and questions I keep replaying in my head. I find peace in my mind as I follow the instructions and flow into different parts of my mind. One of my favourite affirmations is “ I am healthy and healed.

6. Find groups to talk about your journey. Talking about Cancer to your family sometimes make them scared, because they dont know how to respond. There are now many groups for Women on Instagram. I found talking about it…. lessen my fears … also everyone has a story. Its good to listen and many will have the same concerns and fears as you. https://linktr.ee/blackwomenrisinguk

7. NEVER GIVE UP ! I love ME more than I have ever loved ME. I stood up to this CANCER and told it to **** OFF… with my actions and my my mind. I will fight you every step Cancer.

8. Get your mani/pedi, do your hair, put your make up on, get up and dress up everyday ! Like its a party ! Even when you feel ****…. and on the sofa ! LOOK AMAZING. This will become you job daily, then a natural habit.

9. Acupuncture also helped me with blood circulation. I could hardly walk after Chemo. A lady in a Chinese Shop saw me hobbling and suggested that I buy a course. I thought ok I will try it … It Bloody worked I had about 12 sessions and was out dancing …. Never give up!

Many people … close people tried to scare me … when I started my journey … this surprised me … “your never gonna be the same Yvonne… Your gonna have this that etc … Your life will never be the same.”  YES my life is different …. I love me more than I ever did ! I promise ME that I will always LOVE ME and Take GOOD care of ME and remove all negativity energy from my life.  Yes you will lose friends due to CANCER. But … you will make REAL friends and even family.

CANCER has taught me i can stand back (hide) or STAND UP to CANCER!

Namaste

Awesome keep going and I love this, exactly how it changed me!! You’ve said it perfectly, nothing more to add other than I’m in my 5th year being cancer free and living by these ‘rules” really does work.

positive vibes always.  Can’t wait to get to Tenerife in December for two weeks, back to the Algarve in April/May for two weeks whereby I’ll have hit my 5 year mark and then two weeks in Mauritius in November for my sons wedding.

Living life the best I can ❤️

Thanks for sharing x

Hey Yvonne.

Somthing brought me here tonight as I am laying in bed crying and struggling. Completed rads last Tuesday after completing chemo in April. Given that I am her2 now completing herceptin. Coming up to my first year check up in August and cannot fight the fear currently. Trying to be mindful but this cancer thing has just filled my mind and my emotions. So sista love thank you as I needed this tonight.

Glad it helped you warrior sista ! Its a hard journey mentally and physically, trust me x I had to focus on the bigger picture ie seeing my grandchildren grow up and that anchored me everyday. I do hope the meditation AURA can help to settle your mind at night as this is when we think about it the most. I still put music on and dance in my room and cry. Its good to let it all out, so cry if you want to, dance if you want to…. sending you you love and light. Namaste
