My father had a diagnosis of seborrheic keratosis 5 years ago ! Since then it’s been viewed a few times by specialist nurses ! Told it never turns to C !
he recently saw a Doctor who decided to remove the top layer to examine underneath !! He has listed for biopsy to rule out BCC or SCC !
so upset at the previous possible misdiagnosis !! Further more I’m told by McMillan nurse that just so happened to answer the phone that neither BCC or SCC spread to the organs !!
im not convinced that SCC is not incredibly serious and given it may of been misdiagnosed for so Long terrified of the implications!!
ive just read a few stories on here about people losing family members to SCC
out of my mind

Hello Blondie848484 and thanks for posting,
I am sorry to learn what has happened and can understand why you are feeling alarmed, but try and keep an open mind. As the doctor mentioned ruling skin cancer out, they may not be all that suspicious, so the biopsy results might well turn out to be ok. I don’t mean to dismiss your concerns, more to say take it one step at a time because it is so easy for fear to run away with us when there is uncertainty – it can help to counter the fear and worry with some logic.
Squamous cell carcinomas (SCCs) can occur in several places in the body, so not all SCCs are the same – it depends where they started. I am not sure if you have been reading about people with skin (cutaneous ) SCC which along with basal cell carcinoma are called non melanoma skin cancer. In general people with non melanoma skin cancer do very well as these cancers usually grow slowly and don’t spread.
Try to stand back from ‘worst case scenarios’ and hold your nerve until the biopsy results are back. I hope your father doesn’t have too long to wait.
Give us a call if you want to talk anything over on Freephone 0808 800 4040. We are here weekdays, 9-5.
Best wishes,
Julia

Many thanks fir your response !
I am aware basal cell is cut out and rarely or never spreads .
I am aware SCC can spread to the lymph ( Yet one nurse claims neither are treated with chemo ! Obviously if it’s spread to the near by lymph or further chemo would be needed )
I know malignant is a death sentence and I believe squamous could possibly be !
im not one for positive thinking I’m a realist I need facts and probabilities !
These consultants don’t do biopsy’s for fun !! Looking under the scope they’ve a pretty good idea what it is given the decades of experience! I believe biopsy simply confirms what they are almost sure of !
Given my dads sun exposure history his age and he’s had that seborrheic wart the size of a £1 coin probably plus half for 5 years ! Then if it turned out to be squamous misdiagnosed as SK then it is very possible it’s spread !
id be incredibly angry nobody else has took the crust off to examine underneath !
I’m also really upset they didn’t punch biopsy it yesterday given they gave a local to get the crust off !! If a consultant is saying to his colleagues “You can see why they initially thought it SK ” that’s a pretty good indicator that he strongly suspects otherwise !!
I have read a few stories of people losing loved ones on here yes ! where you saying that those where different types of cancers ?
this is located on the upper chest
