I’m going out my mind with worry had abnormal bleeding for about 6 months now, no periods but constantly bleeding. Went to my doctor who did an examination and she said it looked like cervical ectropion – but as it has been 8 years since I last had a smear she did one whilst I was there. The results came back positive for HPV and cell changes (but it doesn’t say what kind of changes – mild, borderline etc).  I have to wait upto 8 weeks for a coloscopy appointment. I’m overweight, and the doctor made me feel like **** after my smear because of it which reinforced why I never went for one for 8 years.

Is it possible what she seen (ectropion) is actually cancer? What’s the chances of everything being fine? So many things running through my mind (especially as I have had the abnormal bleeding.) I’m 31, but haven’t been sexually active for almost 2 years but looking back even then I bled after sex, I did for a few years but never thought anything of it. I really dont know what to do, as a single parent to 2 kids I’m just going out my mind with worry. Haven’t slept and cried daily since I got the result can’t go on like this for 8 weeks waiting for an appointment

Hi there

I just saw your post and wanted to reply to give u some support. Your post has brought tears to my eyes just at the thought of how worried u must be about yourself and your children if anything is wrong and shame on any doctor to make u feel the way they have should be reported. Although I had some problems 8 years ago with cell changes which beleive me petrified me too with being a single parent it made me cry and worry to the point that only sleeping was the only way to get away from that constant feeling of dread I did have it lazered off 2 weeks later and my HPV was negative which I was shocked about after googling everything negative. Since then I’ve kept up with my smears and I’ve not had any further problems. The reason why I’ve found this page and your thread is because my best friend is going through the exact same as u, she’s bleeding from both areas and cell changes and HPV came back as positive the other day and therefor she is worried which resignates so much with how I felt and how u feel too she is due in hospital this week to have a biopsie so only then willwe find out what is going on. I can’t believe u have to wait for 8 weeks that’s torture for u so I ust wanted to say hello and although I don’t know u I wanted u to know that we are here for u and a chat whener u need xxx
