Hi I’m new to forum and not to sure where to post as don’t want to come across a hypochondriac. But have reached a point where I can’t stop thinking about what could be going on with me. I have posted but I think it was in the wrong category. So will just copy and paste will also add anything I missed off last post.

The letter says

“within the right ovary there is 1.3×0.6 irregular hyperechoic avascular area ? Significance.”

then it goes on that the right ovary contains small peripheral follicles suggestive of polysystic ovary.

Hi I’m wondering if anybody can put this into simple terms? I have Google’d the exact wording but can’t understand what it could mean.  isit just a cyst or a lesion and should I of been referred for further tests?
the scan done a few years ago. And at the time it didn’t cause me any concern as it didn’t seem to concern anyone else.

over the last 6 months I have lost 34 lbs due to loss of appetite & significant/ persistent change in bowel habits. Also paler stools (I did have gallbladder surgically removed in 2016)  but up untill the last year I suffered a lot with constipation.

I’m just wondering if the part that says IRREGULAR HYPERECHOIC could be the cause ? Iv recently had another transabdominal ultrasound wich come back normal and some standard blood tests wich also came back normal.

but still waiting on more bloods and a stool sample that I had done yesterday. I really am starting to get concerned. So any information on what I should do in regards with asking doctor for certain tests that may help get to the bottom of the cause.  Thankyou in advance for any replies or Info.

Hello Rachelerm and thanks for posting,

I am sorry to learn about these ongoing and unexplained symptoms and that you have concerns about a previous ultrasound scan report. Unfortunately, I’m afraid I can’t shed any light on either the report or on what could be the matter. This is because we aren’t able to interpret test results or say what is causing anyone’s symptoms.

Things like this can easily trigger a lot of worry, try and keep an open mind as there could easily be be a straightforward explanation for the scan and your symptoms could be due to a number of things.

I think the best thing to do to get some reassurance would be to speak to your own doctor as they know all about you and can give you specific advice. But it must be a good thing that the more recent scan came back as normal so try not to worry too much about the earlier one.

I hope your doctor can help to put your mind at rest and that you know more about your situation soon.

Best wishes,

Julia

Hi Thankyou for your reply Iv calmed down since my original post and tried to step away from Google . Iv just had my stool sample back it was only slightly high at 110ug/g. I kind of convinced myself it was to do with having my gallbladder out in 2016 or I put it down to sudden ibs maybe? Could this still be the case or do these results indicate something else Like some kind of infection ? Iv had no blood and my stools are mostly always leaning towards being more yellow, than they are dark. Thanks again for taking the time to reply to me xx

Hello Rachelerm and thanks for getting back to us,

I am glad that you are feeling a bit calmer in yourself.

I’m afraid I can’t tell you much, bleeding can occur for a number of reasons for example something like bowel inflammation can trigger it. I don’t know if your gall bladder surgery could be the cause but I doubt if the IBS is. To find the cause of bleeding doctors usually want to do more tests and to look inside the bowel. I am not sure if this has been mentioned.

I still think you are in the dark as to what might be the matter and I realise that waiting to find out is stressful. It is difficult to stop our minds from trying to work things out but only the doctors will be able to give you some answers, so try not to dwell on all the different possibilities. I think it is wise to stay away from Google – spending time searching tends to keep any worry front of mind, distraction is usually a better way to cope.

I hope that you are getting closer to finding out what might be going on.

Take care,

Julia
