I just wanted to say a few words on here for my granddaughter Jess…

She faught the breavest of battles on this crule non relenting cancer .. hers was acute myeloid leukaemia…. at 17 years on diagnosis …. she had the most amazing mum and step dad, that faught along side her every day .. through all the treatments sinse February… chemo .. radio .. and stem cell transplant  … every part of her journey was met with her amazing smile of courage … and a mum that held her hand every step …

We thought she’d kicked it’s *** … and sadly no, results showed it was back with a vengeance… she never came out from that day .. but even those last days she held on to that smile …❤

We said goodbye to her Friday… with a rainbow everywhere … lots wore rainbow ties and ribbons .. they surrounded her last bed and a rainbow of flowers on it… she had the most moving “celabration of life” anyone could have ..loving, touching  words from her mum and dad … songs she loved .. “high hopes” and other wonderful tunes .. I’ve never felt so proud of Jess and her wonderful parents .. there were photos on the t.v screen of Jess from baby to young lass to now … many made us laugh with her sense of humour ..

Jess loved life and was at college last year in musical arts .. so played guitar and had an amazing singing voice … finishing with “you were loved” by maroon 5 she’d recorded at college… ❤

I wanted to share this memory … not as a sad memory … as a touching tribute to the most amazing granddaughter and more then that , my friend … and this is not a “cancer won” thread .. far from it … cancer never took away her smile .. never took away hope from any of us … never stopped us holding on to each other .. never took her spirit , that is now soaring above the clouds and stars , till she finds her place there and shines her light down for all to see ..

She will live in all our hearts and well never stop missing her .. but she’ll be looking down telling everyone to keep going .. keep kicking cancers butt … coz for lots , it will happen .. and she’ll now be forever young …

So to cancer … no , you don’t win … coz there’s so many hero’s in Jess and on here every day … no mater how you touch our bodies .. you will never own our hearts and souls … so shine on our Jess… your light will shine even brighter now .. ❤❤❤ nanny Chrissie xx

Oh Chrissie this is such a moving thread. She will indeed be forever young and live on in the hearts and souls of all the people whose lives she touched. One thing is sure Jess had the most amazing nanny and there is no doubt that she knew that and loved you very much.

Big virtual hugs,

Lucie

So sorry Chriss

What a beautiful tribute, it brought a lump to my throat, cancer is so cruel,  glad your girl was surrounded by much love and gratitude for her time on earth. She’s out of pain now and is playing her guitar and singing with the angels.

Hugs to you and yours x
