We know it’s a worrying time for people with cancer. Please read our information about coronavirus and cancer alongside this page. If you have symptoms of cancer you should still contact your doctor and go to any appointments you have. Spotting cancer early means treatment is more likely to be successful.

Plz can anyone give advice as new to this… my father recently  been diagnosed with lung cancer which has spread to his stomach, liver and lymph nodes. We have been told it’s terminal, only this morn we had the call to say the biopsy from his lymph node is back and confirmed cancer (thought they already told us this as to them telling us terminal last week) only now they saying the biopsy is to be sent off to be broke down to determine which type.. i don’t understand how they still can’t tell u small cell or none small… the whole waiting game is driving the whole family crazy…. my dads going out of his mind and would just like to know how long they roughly thinking with or without treatment. He was diagnosed by doc 7 weeks ago and still no closer to getting on treatment and his body is changing so quickly. Is this normal waiting time for treatment etc after all the tests? Plz any info will help

edited* we are also confused on how they said they was discussing his case in the MDT meeting yesterday but yet still can’t tell us anything so what exactly was discussed? Are we then gonna have to wait for another MDT meeting after the other biopsy results come back ?

My dad was diagnosed with possible liver cancer before christmas. I was surprised at how long we waited for tests and for discussions on treatment. By time they looked at surgery cancer had spread, now waiting for them to decide treatment all over again. Advise him to try and stay positive, long waiting times seem to be normal!
