A Two Minute Crash Course To Crushing It On Medium

Contrary to popular belief, I didn’t exactly “jump” into Medium. I waded the waters first by reading popular stories and getting my hands on some how-to guides by Medium veterans. Then I signed up for the MPP and began writing.

Got a question about the rules or curation? Get it from the horse’s mouth. There are helpful articles and pages directly from Medium all over this place. There’s no reason you can’t go into this whole endeavor well-informed.

Kris Gage is awesome. Ditto on Jessica Wildfire. But you can’t be them, so you might as well put that energy into being yourself. Who knows, maybe they’ll wind up following you too.

Who’s not open to their success? Most writers I know. We’re often stuck on one specific idea of success, which is not within anyone’s control. Try letting go of your notions of success and instead seek growth. Remember that you are on your own path.

“Crushing it” as a writer is tough wherever you go. If we’re lucky, we are each one of many incredibly talented writers in our circle. Holding your own isn’t always enough, and it’s not always clear why some writers flourish and others fail in the same setting. Whatever happens, commitment to positivity is one thing you’ll need to get past all of those “life is so unfair” moments.

You might have a ton on your plate, so you can’t write as much as you’d like. Lots of creative people are in that same boat. You really just have to push past that frustration and write as much as you can anyway. Again, this is your journey–own it!
