The only job you start at the top is digging a hole. It is both fascinating and challenging to start a small business and making it to grow fast. Before you start the business you have to make sure that there is a demand for the product or service you are offering.

You should make a survey of all your potential clients and their requirement. You should find what problems they are facing? Whether you would be able to offer a product that would suit their requirements? Would you be able to persuade them to tryout your product? You should consider the fact that your potential customers already have suppliers who are catering to them over a period of time. It would not be easy to displace them or even to obtain a portion of the market.

What about price considerations. You should study whether you would be able to offer your product at a competitive price. If you are a startup it would be advisable for you to make a survey of the potential buyers before you start your project.

If you want to expand your business fast, you should take up a product which has a large number of customers and hence your business has the potential to expand. Your product has to be different from what the others have to offer. Even if you have a product that may not have much competition at present, the competition will catch up with you sooner than later. You have to make best use of the time at the beginning where you face less competition to the maximum possible extent.

Once you start to face more competition your profit margins will dip and order books may cease to overflow. It is absolutely essential to maximize your profits before you have a full blown competition. It is important to look for new products well in advance. It is absolutely essential to keep one step ahead of the competition, to make your small business to grow fast.

It would be better to make a product that has repeat customers. It is easier to retain present customers than to look for new customers. To achieve this you product or service has to satisfy the present customers.
